Policy Statement
Project Purple is committed to maintaining an environment of dignity, respect, and fairness in all aspects of our work. We value diversity, equity, and inclusion as fundamental to our mission of fighting pancreatic cancer and supporting those affected by the disease.
Discrimination or harassment based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, or transgender status), national origin, disability, age (40 or older), genetic information (including family medical history), or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.
This commitment extends to employment, volunteer engagement, program participation, and the distribution of funds, including research grants and patient financial aid.
Equal Access to Funding
Project Purple ensures that all decisions related to funding, including but not limited to grant awards for research and financial assistance to patients and families, are made solely on the basis of merit, need, and alignment with our mission.
We do not discriminate in awarding funds on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, disability, age, genetic information, or any other protected status.
Our funding programs are administered with fairness, transparency, and respect for all applicants.
Reasonable Accommodations
Project Purple will provide reasonable accommodations for qualified applicants, employees, volunteers, or program participants who require them due to a medical condition, disability, or sincerely held religious belief, as required by law.
Requests for accommodation should be directed to Human Resources or to a program manager.
Reporting Discrimination or Harassment
Anyone who believes they have experienced discrimination, harassment, or retaliation within Project Purple’s operations or programs—including employment, volunteer activities, or funding processes—should report it immediately. Reports may be made to:
- Human Resources Department
- Any supervisor or manager
- Executive Leadership
Reports may be made verbally or in writing. Individuals are encouraged to use whichever reporting method feels most comfortable and accessible.
Confidentiality and Non-Retaliation
Project Purple will protect the confidentiality of individuals who report discrimination or participate in an investigation to the greatest extent possible.
No one will be retaliated against, penalized, or denied opportunities for reporting discrimination, participating in an investigation, or opposing discriminatory practices in good faith.
Investigation and Corrective Action
All complaints will be promptly, thoroughly, and impartially investigated.
If a violation of this policy is found, Project Purple will take immediate corrective and preventive action to address the conduct and ensure it does not recur.
Individuals who report discrimination will be notified of the results of the investigation and any actions taken, consistent with privacy considerations.
Manager and Leadership Responsibilities
Managers and employees with supervisory or HR responsibilities must promptly report any known or suspected discrimination or harassment to Human Resources.
Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action.
Consequences for Violations
Any employee, volunteer, or representative of Project Purple found to have engaged in discrimination, harassment, or retaliation will face disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or removal from service.
