Project Purple Podcast Episode 257 – Surviving Pancreatic Cancer with Israel Garcia

Israel Garcia is a stand-up comedian from El Paso, Texas. He was soon to have his first international comedy tour that he waited his entire life for. His dream career as a comic came to a halt when he developed symptoms of jaundice, which led to a doctor’s appointment but no diagnosis. Weeks passed before his symptoms put him in the emergency room. Israel was there for six days where he underwent a series of tests and exams before he was finally diagnosed with stage 2B pancreatic cancer at only thirty-six years old. As someone with no previous health concerns, this came as a huge shock to Israel. Going from joyous comedy clubs to depressing hospital rooms had Israel in a bad mental state on top of battling cancer.

Join us as Israel discusses the past four months of battling this disease, undergoing treatments, and how he’s getting back to doing what he loved, making people laugh, in this episode of the Project Purple Podcast.

Project Purple is sponsoring his first comedy show since being diagnosed. His comedy special will take place on Sunday, August 13th. It will be taped live for one night only at the El Paso Comic Strip Comedy Club, 1201 Airway BLVD in El Paso, Texas. Doors open at 6 pm, show is at 7:30pm. Admission is $20; Visit www.laff2nite.com/shows/227028 to buy tickets.
